Manhole Covers of Santa Nella, California

Santa Nella occurs in the west center of the San Joaquin Valley.   It is located on the I-5 corridor, which came through this part of the San Joaquin Valley in the 1960s.   Santa Nella likely gets its name from sentinela, possibly referring to Centinela Adobe.   It is most remembered by travelers on I-5 by the Spanish-looking tower at a motel and Anderson's Pea Soup Restaurant with the Danish windmill.

Santa Nella is a very small, unincorporated town (just over 100 residents) located on the western side of Merced County.   It is at an average elevation of 50 feet above sea level.

Interstate 5 and State Route 33 pass through Santa Nella.   Agriculture and traveler support is the primary economy of Santa Nella.   Additional information about Santa Nella can be found at Santa Nella Info.   Not much seems to be known about this small community.
