Manhole Covers of City of La Canada Flintridge, Los Angeles County, California
The City of La Canada Flintridge is located in the northern part of the San Gabriel Valley north of Pasadena, sitting right at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains.   When the sky is clear, the views are absolutely stupenous, with the towering granitic/metamorphic massif of the San Gabriel Mountains as the backdrop to the city.   Its geographic position means that it is threatened with mudslide/flows after every major rainstorm.   Keeping La Canada Flintridge, and adjacent communities, safe means that millions of dollars has to be spent to maintain the sediment/catchement basin system established by the County of Los Angeles decades ago.   Higways I-210 and State Route 2 pass through La Canada Flintridge.   It was incorporated on 30 November 1976.   La Canada Flintridge
La Canada Flintridge has a population of 20,218, as of 2000, with a median household income of $140,474, WAY above average for California and the U.S., ranking as the 18th most affluent city in the U.S.   It is composed of 65.5% Whites, 31.8% Asian, and 4.8% Hispanics, with less than 1% for other groups.
