Cambria is a small rural beach community in northwestern San Luis Obispo County, on the Pacific Ocean upcoast from Morro Bay and just down coast from San Simeon, at an average elevation of 43 feet above sea level.   Cambria was a ranching town, founded in 1865 when George Lull built a general store.   Cambria currently has a population of about 6,232 people (2000), which swells considerably during the summer and warm weekends.   Cambria is an unincorporated town.   Cambria citizens are composed of 91.1% Caucasians, 14% Hispanics, and 1.2% Asians.   The median household income for Cambria residents is $45,000 and the per capita income is $16,137.   About 21% of Cambria residents have a bachelor's degree or higher level education.   State Route 1 passes through Cambria.

Cambria's economy is based on tourism, as a beach community.   The Monterey Pine (Pinus radiata dominates Cambria's landscape and is a major component of the city's charm and appeal to tourists, and residents alike.   Additional information about Cambria can be found at Cambria Info site.
